Re: Best Manager Outside Top Division
For a possible next time, you can find the ranking and points on the team history pages.
If I have time left when making the form I'll check them all.

Re: Best Manager Outside Top Division
Nikoline I did miss. He definitely qualifies. Mark maybe.
Uiltje I also noticed, but did not qualify. And Trackstah definitely not imo.
But let's keep it at 5 then. Include Nikoline, Uiltje and Mark so then we have:
PegasusFlights (JC)
- Has won Monte Rosa Tour and Norway Tour
PJMcycles (pjm)
- Won Rotterdam Classic
- Has built a nice team around Leroy Jonker and gets the most out of it
Nikoline (Leolion)
- Has won Valparaiso GC and SC
- All Sao Tomé team
Uiltje (Uil)
- Has won Smaland Cup and FoW SC
- Comeback
Mark Pro Team (Mark)
- Won VCK Classic
- All Asian team
- Recovering from cycling injury
Uiltje I also noticed, but did not qualify. And Trackstah definitely not imo.

Re: Best Manager Outside Top Division
Proposed managers that could be added:
Leolion (Nikoline)- Only Sao Tome riders and won a Tour
Uil (Uiltje)- Did come back from a break, but also won a Cup (and all of its stages), finished 8th in another (that did not fit his captain), and won the SC in FoW with a rider that's not very special.

Re: Best Manager Outside Top Division
While I agree on those criteria, we would also have to make sure that we communicate them clearly with the community, because it will result in a change of style in who's nominated and who's not.
For this season, I see trackstah07 as a good candidate indeed, because he did score consistently, and it was an above average season for his team, without any amazing captains.
So together with Pegasus and PJM that's at least 3 nominees. I would definitely add Mark with a classic win and a few tour results, with a themed team and while recovering from brain injury. So just 1 more nominee and we have a field of 5. I'll try to find one today.

Re: Best Manager Outside Top Division
I would like to add a fifth:
5. Top x (I think 3) of best seasons ever for the manager.
This way managers who drop down from Top Division would not win this award to easily. I for instance could drop down from Top Division and try to get some jerseys and/or trophies and win this award, but I am actually a Top Division manager.

Re: Best Manager Outside Top Division
In addition. For best manager and best manager outside top division, the criteria are hardly defined.
So I think it is good to have a discussion about that, for now but also about the future
Don said the following about this topic:
"Tour/Classic/Cup results>rank>wins>consistency is what I usually look at. And also the achievements relative to the rider's specialty. A sprinter ranked 6th with no big wins is not better than a cobbler with a classic win in 16th, for instance."
I agree with Don
1. In the first place it should be about major wins: Tours, classics, Cups; and as a consequence jerseys, trophies, achievements. The higher the division, the better
2. Qualities of a manager: planning, preparation, getting the best results out of a captain
3. Team ranking
4. Consistency
5. All nations team/regional team.

Re: Best Manager Outside Top Division
"We never got into this level of analysis before - therefore I think it will be unfair to go into that this season."
- What do you mean by this? I don't understand.
"Teams wining this award in the past were the ones which were either close to the top div, or teams doing well, even though they are young teams."
- With the Young Team (0-2 years) award there is a lot of overlap. That Award is fairly new
- I looked at teams just older than that and I saw PJMcycles doing well.
"Also we used to appreciate teams who have only one nation here, as it is much more difficult for those teams to stand out in comparison to "normal" teams."
- Why are you implying I don't? It is all taken into account and we are in agreement that it is more special if a one nation team wins a tour opposed to a normal team. Silver Giant did a very good job by winning TvA with an all-Burundian team, but he doesn't meet the criteria for this award. It is not that an achievement if you can get results in lower divisions with an all nation team against teams with less support and less equipment. Every experienced manager can do that and we should only recognize it when they achieve something special.
By the way: number of results is maybe the worst metric in this game.

trackstah07 - Wins: 6 Results: 13
mark pro team: Wins: 7 Results: 18 with Asians only
Abelixe: Wins: 3 Results: 14, only Colombians
Hog Bay: Wins: 15 Results: 31, Only mongolians

Thanks Don. I did my best, but it is possible that I overlooked something.
And agree also that we have to define some more criteria.

Re: Best Manager Outside Top Division
Agreed on points 1,2 and 3.
I will check point 4 because it's easy to miss one.
Pegasus and PJM sound worthy enough to me, so I will check if I can find 3 others.
If not it is indeed better to skip it this season.
And probably also a good idea to think about how we could make this Award a bit more easy to judge.

Re: Best Manager Outside Top Division
I cannot find good candidates.
1. We already have a 'Young team' award. So I am not going to nominate a manager who is playing 1-2 years and making good progress
2. I am not gonna nominate experienced managers who win 1 or 2 jerseys/classics in lower divisions (with better captains, support, equipment, staff than the rest). If they win a lot more than that it is different, but no such one exists.
3. I am not going to nominate teams which are close to top div, but just not in it. It is not an award who is winning the most points outside top division
4. There are some all-this, all-that teams, but no worthwhile ones to be mentioned
So, I checked all the tours, classics and cups and I could not find a manager who really stands out and would be worthy of this title. So my proposal is to skip it this season and hope next season is different.
Best candidate: PegasusFlights wins Monte Rosa GC + Norway GC and did also perform good in Perm and Valparaiso.
Other candidate: PJMcycles has built a nice team around Leroy Jonker. A not that good sprinter, but he's getting the most out of it

Best Manager Outside Top Division
Manager is not allowed to have scored any points or results in Top Division (1.1 is allowed), but is allowed to be ranked in Top Division at the end of the season.
The format for this category:
Name:
Team:
OCM Tour Rank:
OCM Tour Points:
wins, including mention classic and tour wins, do not mention stages (Divisions in which races were won)
other results, including mention classic and tour results, do not mention stages (Divisions in which results were achieved)
Name: John Doe
Team: Invisible Riders
OCM Tour Rank: 135th
OCM Tour Points: 1000
3 wins, including Tour of Hawaii, and Kangaroo GC (1 Div2, 2 Div3)
8 other results, including 7th place Mito-Tokyo (1 Div1.1, 2 Div2, 5 Div3)
Please do it exactly like this, just don't nominate John Doe
