Yes, I think we can start dividing the categories. I think there is enough support to at least test the system for this season and the next.

These can be divided:

Best Rider - open category
Best Manager - Frank
Best U23 Rider -  Silenzio
Best WT Manager - Frank
Best Young Rider - Michael
Best Sprinter - Michael
Best Hiller - PJM
Best FR Rider - PJM
Best Downhiller - Don
Best Tour Team  - Silenzio

While I agree that ideally we would keep all the awards and drop all of our work for them, in practise, I don't think it works. What I've seen from Best Rider since we made that 'fill in your own vote', is some very lazy voting. Best case scenario for me if we leave out nominations is that people will just look at whose top of the rankings on what we vote on and vote them. More realistically, I think people just won't vote. I don't see many managers spit through all of the rankings looking for who has the best season as a Time Trialer. I think anyone who deserves a spotlight but doesn't already have it somewhere else on the forum will certainly still not get the spotlight through an open vote.

I'll also give some reasons for why I think the categories I'd leave out should go:

Old Rider: Most of the times, the winners are just captains that were good enough to be on top of the rankings before they were old, and won a lot of Awards that way already. This is more of a cherry on top than someone getting an acknowledgement they didn't already have
Rider Outside Top Division: A lot of top hillers and sprinters actually rider outside top divisions, so this category is already represented in those categories very well. It doesn't feel like it's won by riders that couldn't be in top division, they just are based on manager planning.
Young Team: I just can't find any candidates for this any more, which is very sad. But I also haven't seen someone celebrate this in a long time, so I don't feel like people care about it.
One Nation Team: People do care about this one (one way or the other), but it's already a very well-covered niche on the forum. Also, most of the teams that win here also get recognition in Best Manager or Best WT Manager. 
Tour Team: This one is the hardest for me to leave, but doing good at tours is already a reason to be nominated for Best Manager, so it's still a bit of a double-up.

Hi all,
The idea to make it less work but still relevant to the wider community, is a good way forward. I think certain categories must be Annual (because of overall importance on playing the game), but I think the rest should be biennial not triennial. Having to collate 3 years of information and try to get a set of riders that you could compare against would cause (for me at least) more angst.
For Example :-

Best Rider
Best Manager
Best WT Manager
Best Young Rider
Best Sprinter
Best Time Trialer
Best Downhiller
Best Tour Rider
Best Hiller


Year two 9 categories
Best Rider
Best Manager
Best WT Manager
Best Young Rider
Best Climber
Best FR Rider
Best WT Rider
Best U23 Rider
Best Cobbler


dropped categories could be added to make 10, 11 or 12 if felt manageable, although on a personal note some should be dropped anyway.
